New ad units automatically get assigned the "Unknown" category. The bot usually gives specific categories for ad units of the "Site" type within 24 hours after you embed an ad unit on your site and start generating unique traffic. The "Unknown" category is usually not targeted by CPD campaigns, so if it's the only category for ad units, it'll worsen your earnings. Don't hesistate to address support if your ad unit is older than 24 hours, it generates traffic, but it is categorized as "Unknown".
